Assignment: Census and Reflection

Long Form Census
Complete the 2006 Long Form Census. Additional instructions on completing the form can be found on the Statistics Canada archive.
Reflection
Write a short essay (300-500 words) reflecting on your experience filling out the long form census.
Here are some prompts to get you started. The first and last items are required, but the remaining are suggestions.
- How long did it take you? Did you complete the form in one sitting?
- Was any of the process confusing?
- Were there questions that you found interesting, surprising, or uncomfortable?
- Were there questions that you did not answer accurately? Why? How would this affect the quality of the data?
- Do you have any concerns about how sharing this data about yourself?
- If completing the form was not mandatory, what would motivate you to do so?
Formatting
Use standard formatting – Times Roman font size 12 or Arial/Tahoma font size 10, 8.5x11" paper, 1” margins, double spaced.
Submission
The assignment is to be submitted using Blackboard. Two parts are expected: the completed census form and your written paper. Both should be submitted as pdf files.
